"I started coming to Utopia on the advice of 2 of my daughters--I had not been happy with my previous stylist and needed a change--I was very pleasantly surprised. Rachel is without a doubt the best colorist I have ever been to. I have used haircolor for 40 years and the color and style that Rachel did for me was the best. The owner Evie is a sweetheart and the rest of the staff is very courteous. I just got home from my second trip to see Rachel and again am very happy with what she did for my hair. Rachel takes the time to make sure that I am completely happy with the results and also she makes sure that I can duplicate her style. She really listens to what I think I want and then explains what would work the best.

"I returned to Utopia last weekend for a hair appointment, after having been so impressed with my pedicures. I had a 12:30 appointment with Nicole for cut, color, and highlights. I can't begin to tell you how wonderful this experience was for me. I am in my late thirties and I think that I just had for the first time in my life the best cut and color ever. First Nicole took several minutes to listen to what I wanted and even made some very helpful suggestions. Once we decided, she began an awesome transformation from "Plain Jane" to "Stunning". "I've had many bad experiences in the past with salons - they either didn't know how to do my hair or lied and said they knew how but really didn't (African American hair). I've had everything from bad hair cuts to botched color to bad relaxer treatments. It was because of a botched color job that I went to Utopia. Eve, the owner said that Rachel was her best stylist and could fix the color. Rachel took a sample of my hair to test to see if it was healthy enough to stand another color. I was impressed when she asked to do this since no other stylist in my entire life ever asked to do such a test! I came back the next day and she showed me the sample - the hair was fried! So she put me on a deep conditioning regimen to strenghten my hair. I trusted her enough to allow her to relax my hair and the results were better than I ever could have imagined. It took about 4 months, but my hair was healthy enough to color again. I raved about the salon so much that my husband decided to try it for his regular cuts. Steve does my husband's haircuts and he is a perfectionist! He won't let him leave if one hair is out of place! The massages are fantastic! We've had the regular couples massage (60 min )& the couples hot stone massage (90 mins). My husband has arthritis in his back and likes it rough while I like it a litle lighter. we've both had the 60 min regular massage (single). My husband's daughter and her mother had the Hawaiian massage and they both loved it. Even her fiance has had a massage and was so impressed that he's now going to school to be a massage therapist! Both my husband and I recommend this place to our friends for hair and massage services and the ones that listen to us have never been disappointed!"

"After 2 weeks and 3 phone calls just to try to set up an appt. with my hair salon of the past 2 years, I decided it was time to leave and find a new place. I did some searching on-line and found Utopia with good reviews and average prices compared with similar salons. I walked in just to consult with someone to find out about the place and what they could do with my over highlighted hair. The receptionist immediately called over the owner and I was welcomed with a huge smile. With a lil conversation she told me exactly what she thought needed to be done with my hair. She had an opening right then and there with Rachel ("the girl with twins" as she referred to her as) whom she recommended very highly for coloring. I saw no reason to wait and put my hair into Rachel's hands. The owner communicated directly with the colorist as to what I wanted and that was that. I have really long thick hair, so 3 hours later my hair was looking the best it has in almost 10 years. It was pricey compared to my old salon but because of my hair, the total time it took and the fact that it looks exactly the way I wanted, I didn't mind spending extra. For a full foil with color (extra color for my hair because she ran out) and highlights cost $115 not including tip. I will have to come in for touch ups about every 3 months which will only cost ~$75. The salon itself was clean, bright and up to date and they also have a real barber section that I will be bringing my boyfriend to. Overall, I am very pleased with how quick I was able to get my hair done and everyone was nice and couldn't wait to see how my hair turned out. I will be back :)"
